As I was trying to decide what to write for this month, I found an article about holidays in August. I had no idea these days existed.
– August 1st is National Girlfriends Day. It honors women who are there for their lady friends. What a great excuse to get together with your girlfriends for some fun and laughs. I might just have to schedule some much-needed girlfriend time!
-August 9th is Book Lover’s Day. Another holiday I never knew existed. Now those who truly are book lovers probably don’t need a special day to celebrate reading, but seize the opportunity to encourage reading in a young person in your life. I love my reading pillows because they help do just that.
-August 10th is Lazy Day. Now that is definitely a holiday I want to add to my calendar. Every once in a while it’s important to take time to have a jammie day and not worry about the “To do list!” This year it’s even on a Friday, so start the weekend early by doing absolutely nothing.
-August 13th is National Left-Handers Day. For all those who have to suffer in a right-handed scissors world, today you get a special day honoring your abilities.
-August 21st is National Senior Citizens Day. On August 19th, 1988, President Reagan deemed August 21st as a national day to honor our older US citizens. I am not sure exactly what age is considered senior citizen by this proclamation so I’m not sure if I get to celebrate this yet or not.
-August 22nd is National Tooth Fairy Day. Again, a holiday I never knew existed. It does stand to reason though that anyone who can sneak into a child’s room, avoid the Legos on the floor, find a tiny tooth under the pillow and make money magically appear does deserve a special holiday. Our tooth fairy pillows can help the tooth fairy from having to frantically search for that tiny tooth though. So glad I can make the tooth fairy’s job easier!
-August 24th is National Hug Your Boss Day. I’m not sure how I feel about this holiday. Some people don’t like hugs so if you plan to actually hug your boss, maybe ask first if it’s okay.
There were a few other holidays I didn’t mention, so if you would like to see the full list, click here.
Enjoy your August holidays,
